Whats in your creative mind?

My name is Alan Shipley but most people just call me "Shipley". I got into design by starting with photoshop ( when you had to buy CD's to install it ) to make web design layouts. And from there I wanted to make my layouts come to life. So I asked my buddy Google everything that I could, and I learned HTML/CSS, Wordpress, PHP, Javascript, and whatever else it took to get a project going. I'm still learning every day and over the years I have gathered some of the skills below.

Adobe XD

Gone are the days of creating mock ups in photoshop. Creating mock ups are much easier and help keep everything consistent. By using design systems, document assets, components, it makes working with a team a lot easier. You can share assets and when they are updated, it updates everywhere. And after the mock up is created, you can jump right into prototyping to help your team understand the flow of whatever you are creating.

Photoshop

This is where it all started for me. Photoshop. I wanted to learn how to create layouts for websites, edit photos of my friends cars, and just create images that I had in my mind. I spent hours and hours watching videos online, following tutorials, and reading books at Barnes and Noble to learn as much as I could. Creating everything from mock ups, business cards, postcards, editing photos, restoring photos and so much more.

Illustrator

After learning Photoshop, I decided to see what Illustrator had to offer and how it could help me with my designs. Once you go vector, you never want to go back to pixels. It made creating logos, business cards, and other projects so much more easier. I just fell in love with Illustrator and combined with Photoshop, my projects became more and more creative and my work flow evolved.
